2009 Indian general election in Haryana

The 2009 Indian general election in Haryana was held in a two-phase process on April 30 and May 7, 2009, as part of the 15th Lok Sabha elections. The elections were conducted to select the state's representatives in the Parliament of India. Haryana, comprising 10 parliamentary constituencies, witnessed a significant political rivalry primarily between the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The United Progressive Alliance (UPA), led by the INC, aimed to retain its influence in the region, while the BJP sought to capitalize on various local issues. Voter turnout in Haryana was approximately 63%, reflecting active civic participation. The election results affirmed the dominance of the INC, which won 7 out of 10 seats, reinforcing its political stronghold in the state.
